Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Malaysian national footballer V. Krishnasamy who passed away on Sunday at the age of 72 after a long battle with diabetes.
The Malaysian Olympian played for the national team from 1967 to 1976 with his greatest achievement arriving when he led the Harimau Malaya to a memorable 3-0 victory over the United States at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games.
After his football career, Krishnasamy continued his contribution to sport as a technical official in the Penang Amateur Athletic Association for several years.
The thoughts and prayers of the AFC and the rest of the Asian football family are with the family and friends of Krishnasamy, the Football Association of Malaysia and the Malaysian football community during this difficult time.
